A beautiful example of a Bolection Frame which was introduced in the late seventeenth century, it has a distinctively shaped convex molding of reverse section curving up from the artwork and back to the wall. I love the worn nature of this frame and it sits with the artwork very well. I have added the mirror plate and reverse painted the lettering so it is behind the glass. The lettering is in black and a dark fushia.
This is a beautiful one off antique frame found in France. Dishevelled measures W66cm x H56cm the frame itself is 9cm wide.
